Walk-ins Welcome!

Free Academic Coaching and other learning resources are available to students. Check the Academic Coaching Schedule below to find your subject and the location and times that work best for you.

Academic Coaches are fellow students who have successfully completed introductory and advanced coursework and are recommended by faculty in various subjects and classes. Our Academic Coaches are SFCC students or area university students.

Whether you are looking for help solving math problems or needing tips to organize an essay, Academic Coaches can help you. Some of the topics Academic Coaches can help with are:

  • Homework questions
  • Scheduling your study time
  • Science labs
  • Understanding vocabulary and ideas
  • Ways to be successful in college Writing papers

We also have Peer Success Coaches who are experienced, successful Peer Mentors. They can help you navigate Canvas, develop time management, set up successful schedules, aid you in improving study skills, connect you to campus resources and much more!

To receive help from one of our Peer Success Coaches, simply choose the subject “General Help” within our appointment platform.  

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year. We are so excited to support you with FREE on-ground and online Academic Coaching this year, in subjects such as Science, Math, English, World Languages, Writing and more!

You will receive an invitation to our Canvas course with a link to the Academic Coaching appointment page by the end of the first week of the current quarter. If you have not received the Canvas invite by the end of the first week of the current quarter, please email Academic Coaches and we will add you.

If you are interested in becoming an Academic Coach, you must:

  • Have a 3.5 GPA or above in the subject/class for which you will be Academic Coaching.
  • Receive a recommendation from the instructor you had for this class.
  • Have an interview with the Academic Coaching Supervisor or other member of Learning Support staff.
  • Hold one-on-one appointments with peers seeking support.
  • Mentor peers needing support.

Khan Academy is a free online platform which offers practice exercises, instructional videos and personalized learning dashboard for learners.

Offers Academic Coaching and equipment checkout to all SFCC students enrolled in math classes or math-related classes, such as engineering and physics. Visit the Math Learning Center page to learn more about hours and services.
