Steps to Participate in Commencement

1. Graduation Application

The deadline for ceremony participants to apply for graduation at SFCC is May 12. If you miss the deadline but are interested in participating, please contact the Graduation Office.

Note – it is not possible for participants approved after May 12 to have their names printed in the commencement program.

2. Pick up cap and gown

Graduates will receive an email from SFCC.Graduation@sfcc.spokane.edu with information about where and when to pick up their caps and gowns. Pick-up details will be available during spring quarter.

Honor cords are available for graduates with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through winter 2026. These cords will be distributed with caps and gowns.

Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society regalia are available for P.T.K. members to purchase online. If you are a Phi Theta Kappa member and you have questions, please contact the PTK advisor Devika Gates at devika.gates@sfcc.spokane.edu for more information.

For veteran graduates, Americana cords are distributed through the Veteran’s Resource Center in Bldg. 17, 2nd floor, SFCC.VeteransCenter@sfcc.spokane.edu

3. Attending the Ceremony

There are no tickets to the event. Admission for students and all guests is free. Seating is based on a first come first served basis. Students must arrive by 2 p.m. wearing their cap and gown. Stilettos are prohibited, as The Podium floors are not suitable for this type of footwear.

Bring only what you can carry throughout the ceremony. There is no place to leave personal belongings during the ceremony.

Diplomas and Final Transcripts

Students will receive a diploma cover at the commencement ceremony. Once the spring quarter graduation evaluations are completed, all graduates will receive an email from Parchment with a digital diploma as well as an opportunity to confirm their mailing address. All graduates receive one complimentary digital and one physical diploma.

Spring quarter grades will post on June 24, 2026. Official transcripts with spring grades will be available for order on that date. As it takes a few weeks for the team to evaluate and post all of the degrees for spring quarter, students can indicate when ordering their official transcript if they wish to “hold” the request until their degree is posted so the order will reflect the completed degree.

Photos

Photos of individual graduates will be taken at the ceremony by our partner, After Image Visual Services. Order forms will be available at cap and gown pick-up and at the ceremony. Specific costs and package options will be available at the ceremony.

Web streaming

The ceremony will be live streamed on the Spokane Colleges YouTube channel. The video will not be available for purchase after the ceremony but may be accessible on the website.
