Steps to Participate in Commencement
1. Graduation Application
The deadline for ceremony participants to apply for graduation at SFCC was May 12. If you missed the deadline but are interested in participating, please contact the Graduation Office.
Note – it is not possible for participants approved after May 12 to have their names printed in the commencement program.
2. Pick up cap and gown
Caps and gowns will be available for pick-up only at no cost from the SFCC Bookstore at normal operation hours from May 28 – June 7. Reservations for caps and gowns are not required. Students may have a family member or friend pick up for them.
Honor cords are available for graduates with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through Winter 2024. These cords will be distributed with caps and gowns.
Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society regalia are available for P.T.K. members to purchase online. If you are a Phi Theta Kappa member and you have questions, please contact the PTK advisor Michele Moore at michele.moore@sfcc.spokane.edu for more information.
For veteran graduates, Americana cords are distributed through the Veteran’s Resource Center in Bldg. 17, 2nd floor, SFCC.VeteransCenter@sfcc.spokane.edu
3. Attending the Ceremony
There are no tickets to the event. Admission for students and all guests is free. Seating is based on a first come first served basis. Students must arrive by 6 p.m. wearing their cap and gown. Stilettos are prohibited, as The Podium floors and bleachers are not suitable for this type of footwear.
Bring only what you can carry throughout the ceremony. There is no place to leave personal belongings during the ceremony. Graduates are required to participate in the entire ceremony.
