We foster a learning environment in which the tutors are peer mentors rather than instructional replacements. What we mean by this is that the tutors provide support for students as they work through math problems rather than replacing instructional material. Tutoring is successful when specific concepts are addressed and built upon.
At the MLC, expect the tutor to ask you questions about the material and feel free to bring specific questions to your tutoring session. We also want you to succeed and for us to be able to assist you to the best of our ability, we ask that you bring: an idea of what concept you need help with as well as any notes or course materials that we can refer during the tutoring session.
