Some students may be eligible to bypass advancement testing for math, English, or both. To check your eligibility, use the resources below. Please note that students submitting Alternative Placements will be charge a $15 fee.
Did you graduate from high school less than three calendar years ago? Are you a running start student? You are eligible for alternative English placement if you meet one the following criteria:
Your eligible high school transcripts reflect at least seven semesters of a cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0
Running start students need only three semesters
You scored a 530 or higher on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing portion of the SAT
You scored a 19 or higher combined average on the Reading and English portions of the ACT
You achieved a level 4, level 3, or a level 2 + B or higher in senior English (Smarter Balanced)
Did you graduate from high school less than one calendar year ago? Are you a running start student? You are eligible for alternative math placement if you meet one the following criteria:
Your transcript shows 2 consecutive semesters of Pre-Calc with a 3.0 or higher (no B-)
You scored a 530 or higher on the math portion of the SAT
You scored a 23 or higher on the math portion of the ACT
You achieved a level 4 or a level 3 + 3.0 in two semesters of high school Pre-Calc
You achieved a level 3 or a level 2 + 3.0 in a high school "bridge course"
The agreements apply only to college readiness and placement considerations for high school students with Smarter Balanced 11th grade assessment scores admitted to and enrolling in the academic year immediately following high school graduation or students enrolling in dual-credit courses as high school seniors.
It can be as easy as looking your test scores up in a browser, taking a screen shot, and emailing the image to us as an attachment. If you wish to submit an Alternative Placement for evaluation, simply send an email to BypassTesting@sfcc.spokane.edu. A $15 Evaluation Fee will be charged to students submitting Alternative Placements.
