Health Insurance Details

International students are required to have American health insurance during their time of study in the United States. Community Colleges of Spokane has a partnership with LewerMark Insurance to provide health insurance for all of our international students.

After you arrive in Spokane, you will attend an orientation on campus where you will learn more about getting your health insurance. We will work with you as you fill out your form and make payment at our cashiers’ office. We will submit your payment to the insurance company.

LewerMark health insurance is required for all SFCC and SCC F-1 international students. You will be charged a fee every quarter. Please ask our staff about the current cost as it may change over time. All F-1 students will be charged for medical insurance when they register for classes unless they provide proof of current government sponsorship.

Our F-1 and J-1 students must also purchase insurance for any dependents who are accompanying them during their study at Community Colleges of Spokane People on a F-2 or J-2 visa can find information on obtaining insurance here.

The SFCC and SCC International Office must receive documentation showing each F-2 or J-2 dependent is enrolled in the recommended insurance plan each quarter.

If you need assistance signing your F-2 or J-2 dependents up for medical insurance, please contact the Global Education Office to make an appointment.

Government-Sponsored Students

The only exception to this rule is for government-sponsored students who give a copy of their financial guarantee by the 5th day of each quarter to the Global Education Program Coordinator. If government-sponsored students do not give the financial guarantee to the coordinator by the 5th day, they will be required to purchase LewerMark Insurance with no refunds offered.
