Skilled Trades Preparation (STP)

Interested in Construction?

There are many opportunities for high-paying careers in construction trades apprenticeship. Many employers are looking for people interested in learning a trade. Skilled Trades Preparation introduces you to the skills and training you need to succeed as an apprentice, no matter what trade you choose. Your instructors and apprenticeship coordinators will help you find the right career path for you.

STP partners with 18 apprenticeship programs through Spokane Community College's Apprenticeships and many of these programs hire directly from STP at the end of the 11-week training.

If you want to learn about these opportunities while developing beginning construction skills, STP is for you. Tuition is $25.

Attend Our Information Sessions!

To learn more about Skilled Trades Preparation, attend any one of our information sessions. You will be able to hear about the program, tour the facility, meet the teachers and enroll! Each session starts at 9:00 and is held at the Apprenticeship Center, located at 2110 N Fancher Way.

Program Details:

• ​STP is an 11-week course offered in the fall, winter, and spring quarters.

• Class times: Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There is no part-time option.

• Students are expected to attend every day for the entire time.

• STP is offered at the Apprenticeship and Journeyman Training Center, 2110 N. Fancher Way, Spokane Valley, WA 99212

Program Eligibility:

• Have a high school diploma or GED. If you don’t have it yet, please contact us because either we can make an exception if you are close, or we can help you get your diploma or GED.

• Have completed ESL 5. If you are close, please contact us.

• 18 or older
