Heather Bellerud – Guided Pathways Specialist, Visual, Performing, and Applied Arts

Heather Bellerud (she/her) joined the staff at SFCC in December 2016, shortly after moving to Spokane with her family. She has a broad range of experience in education and the arts; she has worked as a cultural and natural resource interpretive ranger for the National Park Service in New Mexico and Arizona, taught art and environmental education in Colorado and Western Washington, and managed museum education programming for school and family audiences. Heather is an artist, a gardener, a bit of a bookworm, and a cargo bike nerd. She is happy to be serving as a Guided Pathways Pathways Specialist in the Visual, Performing, and Applied Arts Pathway.

Cedric Bidwell Williams – Music Instructor (Accompanist)

Cedric Bidwell Williams joined the faculty at Spokane Falls Community College as a piano instructor and collaborative pianist in 2024. He earned his BMUS in Piano Performance, magna cum laude, from EWU in 2022.

Currently, Cedric teaches piano lessons to students of all ages at Holy Names Music Center. He also serves as musical director at St. Georges School and St. Rose of Lima parish. Additionally, he holds the position of resident musical director at Stage Left Theater in Spokane.

Cedric’s work in choral accompanying is a passion, and he currently plays piano for 5 choirs around Spokane and on the west side of Washington. Cedric has music directed the shows Fun Home, Frozen, Lizzie the Musical, and Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens. In 2023, Cedric served as the music director in collaboration with the SFCC drama department for the Clue the Musical.

Sharon Cattich – Music Instructor (oboe)

Sharon joined the faculty at Spokane Falls Community College in 2024. She is an oboe teacher and performer. She first got her start in music in Western Washington where she studied oboe with Bernie Shapiro and Alex Klein. She later studied under James Caldwell at Oberlin Conservatory of Music where she performed with the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, the Oberlin Big Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. She received her A.A. in Recording Production at the Art Institute of Seattle in 2001, and a BA in Ministry and Leadership at Life Pacific University in San Dimas, CA.

Currently, Sharon is Reed Test Supervisor for Jones Double Reed Products and operates a vibrant private teaching studio. In addition to her private lessons, Sharon acts as a sectional and chamber coach with Spokane Youth Symphony (SYS). She is also an avid board member of SYS.

Sharon has performed as a substitute oboist with the Spokane Symphony and recently performed as principal oboist for Handel’s Messiah with First Presbyterian Church. She also played in Handel’s Messiah with the Coeur d’Alene Conservatory and soloed in Whitworth Community Chorale's debut concert, playing Vivaldi’s Gloria. She also played in Whitworth's production of The Sound of Music. Sharon's teaching motto is, "making music a lifelong passion" and she enjoys teaching her students joy and excellence in oboe performance at SFCC.

Thomas Davis – Music Instructor (low brass)

Tom Davis joined the music faculty of Spokane Falls Community College in 2024. He is a well-rounded musician, scientist, composer, writer, and pedagogue. His principal instrument is tuba, although he also plays euphonium, contrabass and cello.

Tom received his bachelor of science degree in geology from Eastern Washington University, where he is the instructor of low brass, an appointment he has held since 2022. Many of his compositions merge the classical style with geological processes. These include Tectonics, a tone poem for wind ensemble that captures the essence of shifting tectonic plates in the earth’s crust. Another is Mineralogy, a symphony for chamber orchestra. Each movement is inspired by a different type of rocks: quartz, olivine, covellite, and garnet. Both Tectonics and Mineralogy were debuted by the EWU wind ensemble and orchestra, respectively.

As a champion for the tuba, Tom has composed four concertos for the instrument in the last five years. He aims to write virtuosic, beautiful music for the instrument unlike anything that has come before, thus giving it a voice as a serious solo instrument.

Jennifer Day – Administrative Assistant, Visual & Performing Arts

Jennifer has been at CCS since 2012 and with the vsual and performing arts division since 2015. With a background in cultural anthropology, she has long loved the arts, both as reflections of the everyday and as windows into society. She particularly enjoys classical and jazz music as well as clay, fiber, and glass. She enjoys listening to music students sing and 'jam' in the hallways and getting the chance to view the variety of student work across the division. 

She enjoys being back in an academic environment, working with faculty and students. Before moving to Spokane, she worked in global health and development programs and research in Africa and Asia, after initially serving in the Peace Corps in Nepal and earning her master of public health (MPH). 

Since arriving in Spokane, she has been active in the local community, serving on multiple non-profit boards and supporting sustainable development, walkable neighborhoods, and public health, here and in low-income countries. Aside from her role as administrative assistant to the visual and performing arts division at SFCC, she is also adjunct faculty at EWU's MPH program at the College of Health Science and Public Health, and guest lectures in various departments at SFCC.

Ashley DeMoville became the dean of visual and performing arts in July of 2023. Dr. DeMoville brings more than 20 years of experience working in the theater and more than 10 years of experience as an arts educator and leader in higher education. She came to SFCC in 2017 and has served as the Director of Drama and Chair for the Department of Communication Arts, Modern Languages, Film, and Drama. She is also active in multiple regional theater organizations and is currently Co-Chair of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, Region VII.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from the University of Hawai'i at Mnoa, a Master of Fine Arts in Directing from Victoria University of Wellington, and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California.

Rosi Guerrero – Music Instructor (Department Chair)

Dr. Rosi Guerrero is a tenured-music faculty at SFCC since 1998 and heads the class piano area from beginner to advanced levels, private studio instruction, music theory and music appreciation. She is also music department chair and an active student-advisor on campus.

Dr. Guerrero was featured as the key-note motivational speaker at the 2018 SFCC Graduation Commencement Ceremonies in the Spokane Arena. In recognition of her contribution to excellence in the classroom and exemplary service to SFCC students, Dr. G was also awarded the Community Colleges of Spokane and the Spokane Teachers Credit Union 2016 Exceptional Faculty Award. She has taught thousands of college students how to play the piano and is passionate about bringing her skills and knowledge to the classroom, both on-ground and online, so her students can learn and develop a lifelong journey in music making and enjoyment.

Dr. Guerrero's efforts were behind the $15 million-renovation and expansion of the SFCC Music Building, a 9-yr. project brought to fruition in 2011. She is an active adjudicator around the region both at the WMEA Solo Music Festival & the WSMTA Honors Piano Competition and participates as a college class piano textbook reviewer.

As piano-duo, Dr. G and her daughter were selected from over 1000 submissions from 29 different countries and featured in Major Lazer and Mumford & Sons’ Marcus Mumford official Earth Day-inspired music video single “Lay Your Head On me” released in April, during the 2020 pandemic. Dr. Guerrero has also debuted her own original piano song “Break Free” in collaboration with SFCC’s jazz pianist Danny McCollim, alongside the voices of the SFCC Chamber Choir in the SFCC music auditorium.

She is married with two daughters, and is a 70.3 Ironman triathlon and 26.2 mile-marathon finisher.

Gerald Krumbholz – Music Instructor

Gerald Krumbholz joined the music faculty at Spokane Falls Community College in 2004. He holds a bachelor’s in music education from the University of South Florida, a master’s in music theory from the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati, and a PhD in music theory from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester. Dr. Krumbholz’s research interests include the history of music theory, counterpoint, music theory pedagogy, American popular songs from 1900-1950, and film music. He is an active barbershop harmony singer, arranger, judge and singer with the Pages of Harmony.

Nathan Lansing – Music Instructor (Choral Director)

Nathan Lansing joined the music faculty at Spokane Falls Community College since 2008. He directs the men's and women's choirs, chamber singers, and vocal jazz ensemble. He also teaches courses in music theory, music fundamentals and the history of popular music. Nathan's work has been featured on numerous jazz and choral recordings. He is also a founding member of Spokane Choral Artists. Lansing holds a bachelor’s degree in choral music education from Edmonds Community College and master's in choral conducting from Central Washington University. He has directed award-winning ensembles in public high schools, and taught at the middle school, community college, and university levels.

Erin Larkin-Foster – Music Instructor (Bassoon)

Erin Larkin-Foster joined the music faculty at Spokane Falls Community College in 2019. She holds a bachelor’s degree in orchestral performance and a master’s in bassoon performance. Erin is an active bassoonist/contra bassoonist who performs with Spokane Symphony Orchestra, Spokane Civic Theatre, Mosaic Winds, Coeur d’Alene Symphony, the Selkirk Quintet, and others. She recently enjoyed playing jazz bassoon with the Spokane Jazz Orchestra with Wayne Horvitz as guest artist.

As an adjudicator, Erin judges at regional and state solo/ensemble and large group festivals throughout the Inland Northwest. She currently serves on the executive board for the American Federation of Musicians Union, Local 105, and enjoys other activities such as archery, hiking, and reading.

David Larsen – Music and Audio Engineering Instructor (Instrumental Director)

David Larsen (saxophonist, composer, and educator) is the director of instrumental studies at Spokane Falls Community College. He holds a PhD from Washington State University and degrees from Pacific University, University of Oregon, and Western Oregon University. David has been a presenter/performer for the Jazz Education Network, North American Saxophone Alliance, and several other conferences and festivals.

David has performed with a variety of artists, including Ken Peplowski, Francisco Torres, Dave Glenn, Ron Vincent, Bill Mays, Dean Johnson, and the internationally acclaimed jazz vocalist Halie Loren.

David’s recent releases include The Peplowski Project (2023), Two of a Kind (2023), Deviate from Standards (2021) and The Mulligan Chronicles (2021), which have received international radio play and rave reviews. David regularly records for G2 record label out of Hamburg, Germany. Recently, David appeared on the Origin Records release New Normal (2021) by Greg Yasinitsky and was featured on the award- winning Halie Loren album Butterfly Blue (2015). Larsen’s previous releases include Borrowed Time (2018), One of a Kind (2016), and Night Shift (2016).

Danny McCollim – Audio Engineering and Music Instructor

Danny joined the SFCC faculty in 1997. He teaches music technology, digital audio, MIDI arranging, functional piano, contemporary harmony and film scoring. McCollim has worked on advertising campaigns for clients such as Honda and The Gap. His musical works have also been used in “Good Morning America,” “General Hospital,” “ABC Sports,” and other shows and television movies. He has been a featured performer with the Spokane Symphony and the Jazz Violin Summit under Gunther Schuller. He currently tours with Peter Rivera, former lead singer/drummer for the Motown group, Rare Earth. McCollim holds a BA in music and an AAS in electronics engineering from Spokane Community College.  

Brendan McMurphy – Music Instructor (Trumpet)

Brendan McMurphy joined the music faculty at Spokane Falls Community College in 2018. He holds a Master of Arts Degree in Jazz Studies and Bachelor's in Trumpet Performance from Washington State University. He has wide ranging experience from small and large ensemble jazz performance, orchestral, musicals, and commercial music.

Brendan has released two professional recordings with his wife, Rachel Bade-McMurphy, on their own label rbmcjazz. Brendan holds a private studio in Spokane and is also on staff at Holy Names Music Center.

Patrick McNally – Music Instructor (Bass)

Patrick has been the Principal Bass with the Spokane Symphony since 2007. He earned a master of music degree in 2004 under the tutelage of Bruce Bransby, and completed his bachelor degree in music performance at DePaul University, where he studied with members of the Chicago Symphony.

He has performed at music festivals in Europe and across the United States, including the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, the American Institute of Musical Studies, and the Aspen Music Festival. He has also performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony, Sinfonia Concertante, and as a guest artist with the Spokane String Quartet.

Patrick joined the music faculty at Spokane Falls Community College in 2012. He also teaches at the University of Montana.

Michael Millham – Music Instructor (Acoustic Guitar)

Michael joined the faculty at Spokane Falls Community College in 2022. A veteran multi-genre performer, and an in-demand mid-career teacher and clinician, Michael maintains studios at Gonzaga and Eastern Washington Universities. He is a regular host/director of the Northwest Guitar Festival, and has been a featured performer for numerous regional festivals including the Northwest Guitar Festival, the Northwest Bach Festival, the Festival at Sandpoint (in concerto work with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra), and Northwest Folklife's guitar showcase in McCaw hall, among others.

Michael is a past regular contributor to the magazine Acoustic Guitar and has been profiled in the same. He has also written for Guitar Teacher and Play Guitar! magazines. Michael worked as either an alpha/beta testing endorser or performing artist for Elixir strings, Lowden Guitars, Schoenberg Guitars, Hill Guitars, L.R. Baggs electronics and AER amps, among other companies. His duo (with his wife, vocalist Keleren Millham) regularly performs at venues ranging from wine bars and house concerts to radio shows, theaters, universities and festivals: over 2,000 performances to date. They have released 3 CDs featuring their own compositions, completed a documentary film soundtrack, and scored the promotional reel soundtrack for author Shann Ray's American Copper (2016 recording). Michael was featured in performance and on record with the Montana choir Dolce Canto (2011 recording) and with Spokane Symphony Cello and Bassoon 1st chairs John and Lynn Marshall (2015 recording). He is a graduate of the Lionel Hampton School of Music-University of Idaho.

In 1999, Michael was one of eight recipients selected nationally for Jim Beam Brand Worldwide's Benefiting Emerging Artists in Music grant.

Jason Moody – Music Instructor (Symphony Orchestra)

Jason Moody joined the Spokane Falls Community College music faculty in 2016. He is also adjunct faculty at Whitworth University. He holds a DMA from the University of Washington, an MM from Rice University, and a BA from Seattle Pacific University. He has been a member of the Spokane Symphony since 2008 and is a substitute with the Seattle Symphony and Seattle Opera. Moody has been featured as soloist with orchestras throughout the Northwest, performed as guest artist at the Northwest Bach Festival, and is regularly heard performing with harpist Earecka Tregenza in Duo Cascade. He has appeared on public radio several times and has worked as a session musician on numerous movie and television soundtracks.

Matt Peterson – Music Instructor (Trombone)

Matthew Peterson joined the faculty at Spokane Falls Community College in January of 2022. He is an avid freelance musician and teacher in the inland northwest and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Trombone Performance from Eastern Washington University.

Matthew has a wide range of performance experience having played with numerous professional groups in the Spokane area, as well as faculty ensembles at area universities, musicals, local symphonies, and large jazz ensemble recordings. He also maintains a private studio and works with local school band programs helping young musicians develop their overall ability and enjoyment of their instruments. Outside of the music world, Matthew spends his time playing chess, reading, hiking, or spending time with his cat.

Paul Raymond – Music Instructor (World Drumming)

Paul has been director of the World Drumming Ensemble at Spokane Falls Community College since 2013. He is also a music faculty member at Whitworth University and Holy Names Music Center. He holds a bachelor's degree in music performance from Eastern Washington University and a master's degree in music from Northwestern University. He also studied African drumming with Babatunde Olatunji. In 1974, Raymond joined the Spokane Symphony as a section percussionist and became principal percussion in 1986. He also performs with several musical groups in the area, including Moko Jumbie, Clarion Brass, and Desafinado, and regularly plays in pit orchestras for musicals.

Joel Roeber – Music Instructor (Electric Guitar)

Joel Roeber has been a member of the music faculty at Spokane Falls Community College since 2022. He received a BM from Washington State University in Music Education and is an active Jazz Guitarist and teacher in the Spokane area.

A talented musician in the region, he plays a variety of jazz, rock, metal, funk, and even Latin styles. Joel plays frequently with fellow faculty Dave Larsen and Dusty Thomas at a variety of venues downtown and at the college. He is currently composing music for solo projects and other artists from across the United States. In addition, Joel also teaches Elementary music in the Spokane Public School District.

JP Shields – Music Instructor

John Paul Shields is a guitar performer, composer and instructor with over 17 years of professional experience. He joined the Spokane Falls Community College music faculty in 2012. A graduate of the University of Washington classical guitar program, he has performed worldwide. He plays multiple genres of music, including classical, Latin, folk, rock, and jazz. Recently, Shields studied Andean folk guitar music in Peru. He also composes for classical and contemporary solo guitar, including music for commercials, videos and art exhibits. Additionally, Shields teaches guitar at Holy Names Music Center and works with veterans at the Spokane Veteran's Administration Hospital in the Music as Therapy program. He recently because a musician in residence at Providence Sacred Heart.

KELLI SHILL – Music Instructor (voice)

Kelli Shill (she/her) joined the music faculty at Spokane Falls Community College in 2024 as a voice instructor. She holds a BM in Voice Performance (2020) as well as a MM in Opera Performance (2022) from Arizona State University. While in school she performed a variety of operatic roles, including Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel. She also directed the first staged production of Nkeiru Okoye’s 600 Square Feet and worked as a music theory tutor.

Kelli most recently worked as an active performer in the Phoenix area. In 2023 she worked for Arizona Opera both as an Ambassador and as an Education & Outreach Teaching Artist, where she performed children’s operas to local elementary schools as part of a touring group.  

Dusty Thomas – Music Instructor (Flute)

Dusty Thomas joined the music faculty at Spokane Falls Community College in 2021. He is a professional flutist, saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator in the Spokane area. He received a bachelor’s degree in performance from Eastern Washington University, as well as a Master’s in Teaching from Whitworth University.

Dusty has performed with numerous ensembles in the area encompassing many genres. This includes the SFCC Concert Band, as well as the Spokane Jazz Orchestra (SJO), Soul Proprietor, Crooked Kilt, Spokane Civic Theatre and other area musical theatre productions, and Cirque du Mystique among others. Most notably, Dusty served in the Air Force for 11 years touring with the 560th Air Force Band. Dusty’s playing and original compositions can be heard on his new album with local group, The Max Quartet. Dusty is also a music educator with the Spokane School District.

David Turner – Music Instructor (Electric Bass)

Dave Turner joined the music faculty at Spokane Falls Community College in 2018. He attended SFCC from 1990-1993, and holds a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance and a Masters In Teaching degree, both from Whitworth University. 

Dave is currently the bassist for Spokane Civic Theatre, as well as other local theatre pit orchestras, and was Principal Bass for the Southwest Washington Symphony (2005-2009).  Dave also performs with jazz saxophonist Darren Motamedy, numerous Spokane cover bands, and in the past with Spokane favorites "Citizen Swing," "Laffin' Bones," "Vertigo Bliss," and "Cosmic Dust Fusion Band."  Dave previously taught middle school orchestra in southwest Washington, and currently teaches K-6 Elementary Music in the Mead School District.

Rick Westrick – Music Instructor (Percussion)

Rick Westrick has been a member of the music faculty at Spokane Falls Community College since 1988. He received a BM from Eastern Washington University and is an active freelance performer and teacher throughout the Spokane area. Westrick is a member of the Spokane Symphony. As one of Spokane's leading drum set players, he plays a variety of jazz, rock and Latin styles. He is also a founding member of the popular performance-educational percussion group, Happy Hammers. In addition, Rick directs the percussion ensemble at Gonzaga Preparatory School and maintains a large private teaching studio.
