2020-2021 Eligibility Requirements:
Eligible students will be awarded their requested amount per the application, up to $2,000 maximum for the academic year, until funds are depleted. Funds are not to be included in COA or need per Grant guidance and directly disbursed to the student (unless otherwise authorized to apply to approved charges on the student account).
- Must be a US Citizen or eligible non-citizen
- FAFSA or alternative application on file (student emergency aid application will serve as alternative application source to document ‘highest need’ for eligible purposes).
- Costs need to be related to an aspect within the Cost of Attendance (COA) OR COVID-19.
- Display exceptional need. SFCC defines exceptional need as Washington College Grant (WCG) eligible (based on MFI) per the most recent MFI chart available for the respective application year (https://wsac.wa.gov/sites/default/files/MFI.Chart.08-29-2019.pdf). Students income must be equal to or less than the 100% MFI listed on the MFI chart for the corresponding aid year to be considered eligible for emergency funds. Funds are not prorated based on MFI range.
- Enrolled and commenced in at least one credit within the academic year that SFCC is awarding grant funds. Students no longer enrolled are eligible to receive funds retroactively as long as the was enrollment during the academic year. *Students may be awarded HEERF I and HEERF II funds for costs incurred in prior CARES funding-eligible terms, including costs prior to December 27, 2020, so long as these are funds spent after December 27, 2020.
2021 – 2022 Eligibility Requirements

- 2/16/22- Due to availability of funds SFCC is opening eligibility for students to receive over the $3,000 maximum per year amount, to receiving $3,000 per enrolled quarter. Students must submit a secondary application for review and must continue to meet other eligibility criteria (exceptional need etc.). Students will not be able to receive more than $3000 per quarter. Retroactive quarters for the 21-22 academic year may also be evaluated if a student was enrolled and not funded.

- Enrolled in at least one credit within the academic year that SFCC is awarding grant funds. Students no longer enrolled are eligible to receive funds retroactively as long as they were enrollment during the academic year and enrollment was transcripted.
- Emergency funds do not apply as Estimated Financial Assistance (EFA) and do not count against financial need or cost of attendance.
- Funds may be used to pay down institutional tuition charges/fees, instead of directly refunding to the student, as long as the institution collects separate student authorization (found in the application form, with authorization optional to the student).
- Cannot be on a consortium agreement with another college that dictates SFCC cannot award funding to the student.
