Accounting

If you are an analytical thinker, enjoy crunching numbers and like to work with people, a career in accounting may be for you.

This pre-major program prepares you to transfer to a four-year college to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting, economics or another business-related field. You’ll take beginning accounting courses and complete the first two years of general requirements for a four-year degree.

Whether you want to help small businesses with their taxes or work in the accounting department at a large corporation, a degree in this field will position you for a broad range of career opportunities in the accounting field.

What You’ll Learn

  • Understand the language of business and effectively communicate with written and oral techniques
  • Apply critical thinking skills to solve real world business problems and make business decisions
  • Utilize business models to solve economic problems and analyzing both macro and micro decision making
  • Explain the role of ethics and the importance of its effects on the business environment
  • Use appropriate technology for business management systems
