Digital Filmmaking

If you like movies and telling stories with video a career in filmmaking may be right perfect for you!
The SFCC Digital Filmmaking degrees are an interdisciplinary study of cinematography, acting, directing, and writing that prepares students to pursue careers in a variety of related fields such as commercial advertising, corporate video production, social media marketing, broadcast television, filmmaking.

The program draws upon the strengths of the photography, drama, and film departments to help develop the skills necessary for you to succeed in various, rapidly evolving fields centered around digital video production.

What You’ll Learn

  • Demonstrate knowledge of set protocols for multiple crew positions on a film production
  • Apply techniques of cinematography to convey emotion
  • Apply sound design and video editing strategies to tell a story
  • Produce a short film suitable for entry in a film festival
  • Develop written communication skills necessary to be successful in their chosen career
  • Demonstrate the professionalism required to be employable

Students who complete the Associate of Applied Science – Transfer (AAS-T) degree in Digital Filmmaking have the following transfer opportunities:

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Film & Digital Media at Eastern Washington University. Please be sure to meet with your advisor to take courses that will apply to the general education program at Eastern Washington University, known as Breadth Area Core Requirements (BACR).
