Cynthia Vigil has worked in student affairs for over 20 years. She is an experienced counselor whose scope of practice ranges advising students from high School to graduate school. She has been a department chair, dean of student support services, and currently works with students enrolled in the bachelors’ programs at SFCC.

Cynthia is a first-generation college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in applied psychology and master’s degree in developmental psychology from Eastern Washington University. She is involved in her local community and actively seeks opportunities to create partnerships to support students. She believes that higher education has a responsibility to individuals, communities, and society, therefore; her interactions with students are meant to further lifetime experiences that enrich their lives and the lives of those around them.

My name is Jackie Franklin and I have been teaching business for over 20 years.

I was a student at Spokane Falls Community College, earned a BA in accounting from Gonzaga University, and an MBA from Eastern Washington University. In my career, I have worked in public accounting, and private accounting, and owned a successful consulting company. Shortly after earning my CPA, I started teaching at SFCC as an adjunct (part-time) instructor and fell in love with teaching.

I love the Pacific Northwest. In my spare time you find me on a kayak or a hiking trail.

Stephanie Freeman I have been teaching at SFCC since 2010. I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from Gonzaga University and my master’s in teaching from Whitworth University. I have worked for both corporate and small businesses and have also taught for the School of Business at Gonzaga University. In my classes, I integrate the valuable business experiences I have gained to make connections to the course material. I love teaching a range of business subjects, helping students see how skills weave throughout all areas of business, and watching our graduates go on to work in a wide variety of industries.

lodie Goodman has been a part of the SFCC community since September 2000. lodie was a French and film instructor and was the Chair of the Communication Arts & Modern Languages Department. After 18 years of teaching and advising students across the campus, she stepped up to the new role as Dean of Social Science, Business, and Human Services. She enjoys the opportunity to collaboratively work with faculty, staff, and students to advance the mission of SFCC. A couple of her passions are mentoring and being actively involved in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging as well as championing professional development for her faculty and staff. Whatever is needed to better serve our students and community, particularly behind the scenes, lodie is game.

In her free time, lodie enjoys spending time with her family including her 4 German Shepherds, teaching and practicing yoga, writing, working in her organic lavender field, and collecting rocks.

Khalil Islam-Zwart has worked in higher education for over 20 years in student affairs, academic advising and retention, and teaching (since 2005). Khalil joined the SFCC faculty in 2009.

Khalil earned a BA and a master of public administration from Eastern Washington University and studied organizational and intercultural communication at WSU. In addition, he has been a fellow with the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication since 2001 and is active in a number of professional and civic organizations in the Spokane area.

Heidi Moser is the BAS Management Program Lead and Instructor.  

Heidi is an accomplished executive leader with more than 15 years of hands-on experience managing large business operations, strategy execution, and organizational performance. In addition, she serves as a member of the YMCA Corporate Board.  

Throughout her career she has actively worked to develop individuals and teams that would contribute to the success of their organization. She recognizes the necessity of well-prepared individuals in the workforce.

A community college graduate herself; she very much values the role and mission of the community college and is excited to make a difference in the lives of students and prepare them to make a difference in the lives of the customers they will serve. Heidi completed her AAS and BS in Respiratory Therapy and her MBA with a focus on healthcare administration.

Heidi and her husband have lived in the Northwest for almost 30 years, raising their children and enjoying the beautiful outdoors

I have been teaching Accounting at the Falls since 2018 after 35 years of working at large corporations. I started my career as an accountant but most of my experience is in finance and general management. I have a bachelors’ degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and a masters’ degree in finance from Northwestern University.

My teaching philosophy is to demonstrate how a knowledge of accounting is relevant to students regardless of career choice. I relate the topics we cover to business issues faced by organizations of different sizes and in a wide range of industries to increase student interest and curiosity. I strive to create an active learning environment where class activities are the cornerstone of learning and class attendance leads to a strong understanding of the material and the development of critical thinking skills.
