Season Bests for Sasquatch

 

[SPOKANE, Wash.] The talent continues to shine for the Sasquatch track and field teams competing this weekend at the WSU Cougar Invitational held Friday and Saturday at the Podium Indoor Track Facility.

The competition fields were perhaps the most stacked of the indoor season so far with NCAA teams coming in from around the West, deep talented fields didn’t prevent the Sasquatch for stacking up an impressive number of season and lifetime best in their events.

Lizbeth Soto in the sprint competition at the WSU Cougar Invitational.Leading the way on the women’s side was Lizbeth Soto, who set season best times in the 60m sprint running a very quick 8.33. In the 200m she also ran a season best turning the one lap event in 26.84.

Her teammate Madisen Douglas hit her stride in the 400m sprint knocking a second off her previous best clocking 1:02 .91. Close behind her and running her first 400m of the year was another freshman, Bonners Ferry Idaho’s Camille Ussher, running an impressive 1:02.68.

These three combined with Tabitha Koscoelski to run a solid 4 x 400 relay for the first time this season running 4:14.09.

Nebol Aleu for Rodgers High school made her season debut competing in the women’s triple jump recording a mark of 29’ 8.75”

Hitting her season and lifetime best in the women’s shot-put was Isabella Carpenter. The Central Valley High school freshman improved almost two feet, throwing 35’ ,50”.

For the men, Isiah Cunningham reached a season a personal best in the men’s long jump leaping a solid distance of 20’ 8”

Trey Fowler ran in both the pre-lims and semi-finals of the 60m hurdles clocking a season best time of 8.82.

On the distance side Joel Martinez knocked 5 seconds off his season best in the men’s 3K run, running the 15 lap events in 9:34.33. Teammate Zach Kness ran his first 800m of the season completing the four lapper in 2:05.11.

Sprinters Shaun Salveson and Maximus Richmond each reached their best marks of the season, with Salveson turning the 200 in a quick 23.11 while Richmond bested his 400m time running 52.76.

On deck next is the final indoor meet on the schedule. Both teams will be competing on Friday and Saturday at the Whitworth Invitational at the Podium.

Following the conclusion of the indoor season the team will begin preparations for the first outdoor meet of the year March 3-4 at the UPS Ed Bointano Invitational in Tacoma, WA,
