Community Colleges of Spokane promotes dean to acting provost to serve remainder of academic year

Community Colleges of Spokane has selected Spokane Community College Dean of Student Success Dr. Lori Hunt to be Acting Provost for the remainder of the academic year. Hunt replaces Dr. Valerie Senatore, whose last day with CCS is Nov. 5.
 
“We will be forever grateful for the talent and services Dr. Senatore provided to the Community Colleges of Spokane, especially at this most challenging time,” said CCS Chancellor Christine Johnson. “Dr. Senatore led a highly talented group of professionals who make up the Learning Support Services Team. Her contributions will be missed.”
 
Dr. Hunt will serve as Acting Provost beginning Nov. 16, after which a national recruitment process will begin. This transition period will provide CCS the time to post, interview and select a slate of candidates identified by a district-wide committee before Chancellor Johnson’s final appointment.
 
Dr. Hunt first joined CCS in 2013 as the CCS District Multicultural and Outreach Director. She previously worked in both public and private universities in a variety of roles, including as a lecturer at WSU-Pullman, an admissions counselor at Gonzaga University and as the Regional Assistant Director of Admissions/Multicultural Recruitment at Whitman College in Walla Walla, to name a few.
 
Her passion for student success also led her to several positions within CCS, most recently at SCC, where she is the Dean of Student Success.
 
“I am deeply appreciative of Dr. Hunt for agreeing to serve in the position of Acting Provost,” said Johnson. “Dr. Hunt has been immensely successful in all of her previous roles, and her affinity for student achievement is second to none.”
 
Dr. Hunt earned her Doctorate and Master of Science degrees in Educational Leadership from WSU, and Bachelor of Arts from GU. She’s active in community, regional, and national student services organizations and is a frequent presenter. Her community involvement is extensive and varied — from Volunteers of America, WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine Equity Board, College Success Foundation, Prodigy Northwest Board, Governor’s Family Medical Advisory Board, and more.
