Instructure/Canvas Incident (updated 5.13.26)

We have received new information from Instructure, the company that operates Canvas, regarding the security incident that took place last week.

Over the next few weeks especially, it is important to remain vigilant and aware of potential scam/phishing emails that you may receive relating to the Canvas incident. If you receive one of these emails, do not reply, do not make any payments, do not click on links, do not open attachments, and do not enter any information. Instead, report the email to IT by using the "Report Email" button.

We will provide further updates when additional information about this incident becomes available.

What steps can I take to protect myself?

Contact the Federal Trade Commission's Identity Theft Website if you think your personal information has been compromised.

  • Monitor credit cards and bank accounts. Regularly monitor your financial accounts and report any suspicious activity to your financial institutions immediately.
