About the Program
If you enjoy helping people and have the ability to empathize with others, a career in social services or gerontology could be the right fit for you.
In this program, you’ll gain the skills to assist social workers and other professionals as a paraprofessional in a human services organization or social services agency. Courses explore interpersonal communication, human services, counseling techniques, social policy, family protective services and more. The program’s gerontology focus offers the opportunity for special training to work with older populations (60+).
Whether you want to help children, teens, senior citizens or families, a degree in social services will position you to make a positive difference in neighborhood centers, child protective agencies, work release facilities, residential care facilities, and a variety of other settings.
